Why AI Won't Solve Our Diversity Problem
Technology can automate workflows, but it cannot automate inclusion because AI is trained on historical data and requires human intentionality to prevent bias.
I recently received a partnership opportunity that said: "We can collaborate..., if you are a businessman, that is a plus."
When I ran this through an AI, the algorithm didn't even blink. It polished the grammar and kept moving.
And that’s the problem. AI is trained on historical data. If historical data says leadership belongs to "businessmen," the AI simply normalizes it. It doesn't question the exclusion of women and non-binary professionals.
At NovaStars AI, we believe that technology can automate a lot of things, but it cannot automate inclusion. We still need human empathy, awareness, and intentionality to break these cycles.
To my fellow founders and creators: check your language. And don't rely on AI to do the inclusion work for you.
